DAY 3, THE GENESIS OF THE AKROPONG CHURCH

DAY  3.....

In March 1832, three more missionaries including a medical doctor arrived on the coast. Dr. Heinze the medical man, died six weeks after his arrival. His colleague, P. Jaeger soon followed and Andreas Riis who was to become the pioneer of the work of the Basel Mission, was the only survivor. Riis could not make much headway to converting the local people due to the bad immoral and dissolute lives led by the Europeans from  Christian countries.

Andreas Riis resolved to move to Akuapem Mountains which he believed were far enough from the corrupt influences of the Coast and the climate was more salubrious
Andreas Riis and with his travelling companion, Geoge Lutterodt, a mixedrace from Christianborg stopped for a few days at Aburi. They proceeded to ABIRIW from ABURI....

(day 4 brings ABIRIW'S FACTION..don't miss it.)

 TO be continued....
