Two Related Organisations Storm Anum Apapam Presby School

An indigenous organisation called Raise Life Foundation (RLF) has in joint effort with Fruit Sporting Agency (FSA) on the 13th September 2019 stormed the Anum Apapam Presyterian Basic Schools; A and B in the Eastern Region with various activities scheduled in its ‘Anum Apapam Watch and Education Support Tour’. The event which was successfully executed fulfills parts of the key objectives deemed the setting up of the foundations.

Pupils of Anum Apapam
RLF and FSA are both non-governmental organisations driving almost a closely related course. RLF which was set up about one year ago is made up of about 30 members who are present tertiary students and graduates from the Presbyterian University College and the University of Ghana Legon, in any case both organisations are welcoming to people willing to partake in the accomplishment of their mission as each was framed fundamentally to empower deprived children with a most reliable and a healthy approach. Besides, the joint visit of RLF and FSA to Anum Apapam Prebyterian School was an unmistakable impression of a strong believe in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as it well exhibited ‘Goal 4: Quality Education’ and ‘Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation’.

“The reason for Anum was a collective decision. I had been to Anum before so I knew the place. We focus on the deprived schools for the deprived pupil to have access to quality education. Our goal here is to promote sports, empower the students, mentor them and donate basic learning needs such as stationery and exercise books in order to support them to have and appreciate education. We planned 2,500 books however we couldn’t as a result of less funds” Gerald Afari Antwi Boasiako, Founder of RLF disclosed to Iseegh.blogspot.com

Geometric Shapes Made With Strings and Nails
Offei Daniel Oku Afari, Coordinator, FSA, expressed a deep passion for discovering and bringing to the limelight exceptionally hidden talents of children, "Our belief is that every good thing has to be fruitful. In this line, we mobilise these youth by ensuring they know what they are about".

On the part of Akua Charlotte Owusu, Coordinator of RLF, who lamented on the vast dichotomy of the development in the cities and that of the villages, as well as the rich and the poor, communicated the need to correct such situations. She stated "...Ghana is not just what lies in Accra, Tema, Koforidua and the major cities but then, the villages in itself. I feel the villages really reflect the development of Ghana. These pupils are the source of our future leaders and if this is the situation they find themselves, I feel sad for Ghana.

Uncompleted ICT laboratory
As part of the activities, was the donation of about 1000 books and different stationeries such as pencils and pens to each student of the school. Other activities which took place at the watch and tour were; a class session where members were alloted to a class to give a discussion on the matter ‘determination’, a creative art session where Emmanuel Simons, an art student from the Takoradi Technical School utilized strings, ply woods and nails to create geometric shapes, a football session and a hand-wash session with Baaba Hewton, the Miss Scholar University of Ghana and Scholars SDGs Ambassador 2019, where she underscored the SDGs Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

Improvised hand washing method
According to Baaba, the SDGs Ambassador 2019, the tour revealed to her the source of water for Anum Apapam was from the River Ayensu. She therefore aims at a more improved option for the township. She's suggestive of a borehole at least for a start to drive the course.

RLF generate its resources through donations from donors and paid dues of it members.

“This will be the first time in the history of this school to experience this. We sincerely appreciate this motivation from Raise Life Foundation and Fruit Sporting Agency, we believe it’ll go a long way” Patrick Kwadjo Ofori, Headmaster of the School revealed.

Mr Patrick Ofori added that there is need for the completion of the ICT Laboratory and getting it equipped to the benefit of the pupils. He further stated the need for sanitary pads for the young girl pupils who are almost matured to experience menstrual cycles.

RLF Coordinator with some Anum pupils
The Anum Apapam Watch and Education Support Tour was sponsored by Indomie, AJ Juice, and Kingdom FM Koforidua and supported by Scholars SDGs and Sweet Aroma.

According to the team, the expectation is a well equipped Anum Apapam Presbyterian Basic School in the nearest future whiles having it pupils see and achieve big dreams.

As indicated by RLF, it is sad to have such a school without any water flow other than an improvised gallon punctured and tied to a string and standing sticks to be stepped upon for a flow from the punctured point. RLF therefore takes it upon itself to get the situation amended as a way to enhance the SDGs Goal 6 of Clean Water and Sanitation.

“The possibility of success is reliant on one other individual and as we esteem this a theme, it is likewise dependent on parents to also strive for the success of their kids. Everything can’t be Governments’ obligation. Nevertheless, our target is to raise leaders and see the best out of the worse”, Gerald Afari.

The Amazing Rainbow
Amazingly was a sight of a brightly coloured rainbow few metres after Suhum whilst the team was returning from Anum. Few seconds after most members took a picture of it, it was no more visible. The team referenced the experience as a signal of the successful tour and a promise for more successful events ahead.
