General Akuffo’s Residence Burnt Down In Akropong


Information picked by Iseegh.blogspot.com indicates that indigenes and inhabitants of Akropong are getting progresively unsecured as part of the home of the former Lieutenant General Frederick William Kwasi Akuffo ‘s wife, Mrs Emily Akuffo located on the Akuffo Road at Akropong has on 24th July 2019, been set on fire.

Some few weeks earlier, the royal residence of the queen mother of the Okuapeman Traditional Area, Nana Afua Nketia Obuo II was likewise torched in midnight hours destroying valuable materials such as her regalia, royal stools, chairs, electrical gadgets and other royal items all decimated by fire.

According to sources, the episode occurred at about 1:30am when they over heard a loud explosion of a possible petrol bomb thrown at the boys quarters; a guerrilla tactic of volleying petrol under the cover of darkness whilst the driver and the housekeeper were fast asleep.

The driver and the housekeeper escaped getting hurt although valuable properties were destroyed before it took the intervention of Ghana National Fire Service to control the situation.

Like an event which occurred precisely a year ago; residents at Akropong relate the incident to the current chieftaincy crisis following the installation of a new Okuapehene.

The former First lady, Mrs Emily Akuffo is a cousin to Nana Afua Nketiaa Obuo II hailing from the same royal home.

Most residents at Akropong are wondering if such incidents are trends to resolving the chieftaincy feud in the area.
